A longtime friend of Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s widow has launched a GoFundMe to support her and the couple’s 9-year-old daughter as they navigate life after the actor’s death and an ongoing dispute over his estate.
Destiny Rael, who has been friends with Tenisha Warner for 19 years and first introduced her to Malcolm, according to the GoFundMe, launched the fundraiser on Tuesday (August 11) to support Tenisha and her daughter.
According to the fundraiser, Tenisha is homeschooling the couple’s daughter while grieving her husband and dealing with legal and financial matters involving his estate. Rael said she wanted to give her friend financial support during a difficult period.
“Every single day she shows up for her child as though her own world had not fallen apart, and still makes sure breakfast is on the table,” Rael wrote.
The GoFundMe comes as Tenisha remains involved in a legal dispute with Malcolm’s mother, Pamela Warner, over his estate. Pamela serves as the successor trustee of the Warner Family Trust, which Tenisha is seeking to hold responsible for obligations she says Malcolm owed her under their 2022 prenuptial agreement.
During an interview with CBS Mornings, Tenisha claimed Malcolm was working to update his estate plan to provide for her and their daughter but died before the changes could be finalized.
Tenisha is seeking more than $1.2 million under the couple’s 2022 prenuptial agreement, including a $1 million life insurance obligation, according to PEOPLE.
Rael emphasized that the fundraiser is not intended to take sides in Tenisha’s dispute with Malcolm’s mother.
The campaign asks supporters to help Tenisha and her daughter manage their immediate needs while the family continues to deal with the legal matters surrounding Malcolm’s estate.
Warner, best known for his role as Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, died July 20, 2025, at age 54 after a drowning in Costa Rica.
