A hate crime investigation has been launched in California after video showed a woman repeatedly hurling the N-word in a public parking lot.

According to KTVU, an argument unfolded between two women in a parking lot in downtown Pinole over the weekend. During the confrontation, one of the women used the N-word several times and berated the victim over her "fake a** eyelashes."

"Get outta my face, you f— n— ," the woman said during her racist rant.

Pinole police officers responded to the scene.

"Due to the nature of the verbal exchange between the involved parties, the incident has been classified as a hate incident and is currently under investigation by the department’s criminal investigation bureau," the Pinole Police Department said in a statement.

It's unclear what started the argument. The victim said she was targeted for no apparent reason.

"It's quite unfortunate the verbiage she was using. It's unacceptable," the woman said. "I don't understand why she was using it towards anybody in public at all. She's obviously not supposed to be using that type of vulgar language."

According to KTVU, the woman who was caught hurling racial slurs has a pending criminal case for allegedly stealing from an Ulta Beauty store.

Pinole Mayor Cameron Sasai spoke out about the incident, saying, "Seeing the footage, I'm disturbed, I'm outrage. The use of racial slurs, everything from racist anti-Black rhetoric, is not welcome anywhere, especially in the city of Pinole."
