Leslie Jones Lands Game Show Gig After Leaving 'Saturday Night Live'

Premiere Of Sony's "The Angry Birds Movie 2" - Arrivals

Leslie Jones is getting a sweet new shopping gig after leaving Saturday Night Live.

As previously reported, it was revealed on Tuesday (August 27) that the 51-year-old funnywoman would not be returning to the late-night sketch comedy show. However, Jones, who after starring on SNL for five seasons, has already lined up her next role as the host of the newly-rebooted game show, Supermarket Sweep, Deadline exclusively announced this week.

According to the site, Jones will be hosting and executive producing the revival, from Fremantle. In case you didn't know, Supermarket Sweep, which Al Howard originated in the 1960s (and later in the 1990s), involves contestants racing against the clock in a supermarket shopping spree, as players load up on as many expensive items as they can within a given amount of time. At the end, the team with the priciest items in their shopping cart wins the game.

It's said Jones was a huge fan of the show growing up and has been pushing for its revival in the past. Additionally, Deadline reports Supermarket Sweep is also gaining lots of attention in a bidding war between Netflix, Fox, ABC, and NBC.

After becoming a household name following her hilarious debut in a 2014 Weekend Update segment on SNL, Jones went on to land a role in 2016's Ghostbusters and as a commentator for two Olympic Games (2016, 2018). These days, the actress is lining up a stand-up comedy special with Netflix and is also set to appear in the Coming to America sequel, opening in 2020.
