Brother Of Capitol Rioter Once Led Michelle Obama’s Security Detail

One of the rioters who stormed the US Capitol on January 6 is the brother of the Secret Service agency once in charge of former First Lady Michelle Obama’s security detail.

The man, Scott Fairlamb, is facing five federal charges for his involvement in the deadly riot, including carrying a dangerous weapon and assaulting a federal officer.

During the investigation, law enforcement discovered Scott was related to Secret Service agent Preston Fairlamb III

“All of us grew close to our agents over time. Preston Fairlamb led my detail then,” First Lady Obama wrote in her 2018 memoir Becoming

According to a report by the Huffington Post, Scott’s attorney Harley Breite told the outlet that his brother didn’t know about his actions at the Capitol.

“My client’s brother has nothing to do with the allegations against my client and was not made aware – nor was aware – that my client may have even traveled to the Capitol.”

Videos taken on the day of the attack and sent to the FBI captured Fairlamb reportedly punching and pushing a police officer outside of a building.

Fairlamb, who owns a gym in New Jersey, joins the more than one hundred people arrested in connection with the Capitol siege so far.

The DOJ and FBI are coordinating efforts to arrest those who breached the federal building in an attempt to overturn the election results.

Members of the House transmitted a single article of impeachment against former president Donald Trump on Monday (January 25) for his role in inciting the insurrection. An impeachment trial is expected to begin in two weeks.
