Bye, Sarah

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders is leaving her job, which was to brief the press on the daily actions of the president and the administration, so really, she left that job a while ago. She would take a few questions on the White House driveway every once in a while, but the formal press briefings became fewer and farther between over the last year. The last one I was able to find was in March.

Trump announced her departure on Twitter:

"After 3 1/2 years, our wonderful Sarah Huckabee Sanders will be leaving the White House at the end of the month and going home to the Great State of Arkansas........She is a very special person with extraordinary talents, who has done an incredible job! I hope she decides to run for Governor of Arkansas - she would be fantastic. Sarah, thank you for a job well done!"

Yes, of course Trump thinks she has extraordinary talents, she unflappably lied for him, something she even admitted to doing to special counsel prosecutors during the Russia election meddling probes, which was documented in the Mueller report.

I will actually miss her; sure, she was toxic for the country, and democracy in general, but dang it if she wasn't an awe-inspiring liar. I hope her pastor has set aside a good chunk of time for her confession...

"Uh, yeah, Sarah, that will be fifty-two thousand Hail Marys and eighty-seven hundred Our Fathers."
