During her weekly press conference, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi reacted to the announcement that Trump will declare what he claims is a crisis along the U.S.-Mexico border a national emergency as he signs the bipartisan border deal that will prevent another partial government shutdown.
"It's important to note that when (Trump) declares this emergency, first of all, it's not an emergency."
And second of all...
"...if (Trump) can declare an emergency on something he has created as an emergency, an illusion that he wants to convey, just think of what a president with different values can present to the American people."
And, as an example, she brings up the epidemic of gun violence in America, punctuated by the anniversary of the Parkland mass shooting.
