During an event where he announced a grant for a drug-free community support program, Trump took some questions from the media, one being if he still believes the federal government responded appropriately in aiding Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria after the Governor of Puerto Rico raised the official Hurricane Maria death toll on the island from 64 to 2,975.
"I think we did a fantastic job in Puerto Rico, we're still helping Puerto Rico."
He blamed a shuttered power plant and "the fact" Puerto Rico is an island on the issues.
"Puerto Rico was actually more difficult, because of the fact it's an island; it's much harder to get things onto the island."
He never mentions the hugely increased death toll, but at least he hopes they don't get hit again. Rest assured, though, Trump will be ready to respond like he did after Maria.
